Route 58 Westbound to be Closed in Greenville, Mercer County
Oil City, PA – In connection with the Route 18-Route 58 Improvement Project, there will be one-week detour for westbound traffic near Thiel College in Greenville Borough, Mercer County.
Starting September 30, 2025, Route 58 will be closed to westbound traffic between the intersection with Packard Avenue Extension and the intersection with Ridgeway Avenue. The detour is expected to remain in place until October 7, 2025.
The detour for cars will be posted using Route 18 to Williamson Road to Route 58. The truck detour will be posted using Route 18 to Route 322 to Route 58.
Eastbound traffic will remain unrestricted.
Work to realign of the intersection of Route 18 and Route 58 is being completed in phases. The detour is part of Phase 4, which includes work on drainage, paving, and the new traffic signal at the intersection.
In Phase 5, the final phase of the project, work will include the remaining milling, placing the final layer asphalt throughout the project area, landscaping, and pavement markings. Motorists may encounter temporary lane restrictions with traffic controlled by flaggers.
The project is scheduled to be completed by late October 2025.
The contractor is Lindy Paving of New Galilee, PA. The contract cost is $7,976,304.25. The project is being funded predominately with state and federal funds. Thiel College will fund some improvements on the campus done in connection with the project.
