Envision Greenville’s Meeting Success and Future

Greenville — Residents, business owners and key community leaders packed the Greenville Senior Center on September 10 to listen, review exhibits and exchange ideas at the borough’s public meeting, “Envision Greenville: An Idea Exchange & Presentation.” The event, hosted by the Greenville Redevelopment Authority, focused on the ongoing redevelopment efforts of the 34-acre Trinity Property in the heart of Greenville — and the turnout was strong.

Prior to a formal presentation, meeting attendants could browse through the exhibit, which showcased current redevelopment efforts and potential future plans. Key speakers were Sean Garrigan, principal of SGA, and Joe Hackett, principal of LBA Landscape Architecture. Garrigan provided visuals for the current state of the site and a rough timeline of redevelopment plans, followed by Hackett’s presentation of possible housing development options.

Hackett expressed that the new site would be part of the community rather than a separate barrier and invited participants to think about how this new development can connect to the area, keeping it pedestrian-friendly and inviting.

The open house style gave residents a chance to learn about the conditions of the Trinity North site and how they will influence what is possible, as well as ask questions and provide comments. The meeting emphasized the importance of public participation in the process from start to finish, and more meetings are in talks for the future to continue the community’s strong involvement.

“Thank you to everyone who took the time to attend our meeting,” said Town Manager Jasson Urey. “The public input from the surveys has been very helpful for the redevelopment planning.”

Efforts to bring the community together again to help shape a more connected redevelopment process are already underway, and more meetings are in Greenville’s future. With valuable input from residents, the Redevelopment Authority will continue to advance its redevelopment planning that both honor the borough’s traditional character while also investing in long-term growth.

A link to the exhibit can be found here. The community can also share their input about the future redevelopment of the Trinity North Site in a survey conducted by SGA. The survey will be open until October 15.
